Could there really be more to life than bird-made dresses and true love’s kiss? So this is what Pop singer Britney Spears pretends to show this year with her own musical. The show, a musical comedy called “Once Upon a One More Time” is scheduled to have a production this fall in Chicago and then seek to transfer to Broadway.

The show will use the singer’s back catalogue to populate a story based around a book club made up of fairytale princesses. Set to the songs of Britney Spears, the Princess of Pop herself, “Once Upon a One More Time” is an uproarious, irreverent look at the towering challenges, charms, and choices involved in finding that most elusive of endings: Happily Ever After.

In the show, a fortnightly book club whose members include Snow WhiteCinderellaRapunzel and Sleeping Beauty, is working its way through a collection of the Grimms’ fairy tales – the only book they have. But when the women wish for new reading material, a fairy godmother brings them Ms. Friedan’s feminist classic, “The Feminine Mystique”, and their lives are altered in unexpected ways.

“I’m so excited to have a musical with my songs – especially one that takes place in such a magical world filled with characters that I grew up on, who I love and adore”, said Spears. “This is a dream come true for me!”, she added. Previews begin Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago, with an opening night of November 13, 2019, for its limited engagement through December 1, 2019, before heading to Broadway.

Keone & Mari Madrid: choreographers

The musical features an original book by Jon Hartmere (The Upside, bare), with direction by Tony Award nominee Kristin Hanggi (Rock of Ages) and Choreography by MTV Video Music Award nominees Keone Mari Madrid.

You may remember Keone and Madrid for their appearance in Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” video. Or for their participation in “World of Dance”, “So You Think You Can Dance” as well as “Dancing With the Stars”, to name a few. They are brilliant storytellers, choreographers who can create narrative movement that moves us.

The pair YouTube videos garnered several million views some years ago, capturing the attention of people like Ellen DeGeneres, who invited them to perform on her show. Then a huge career on musical industry began. Nowadays, they are gonna lead Britney’s new musical.
