In 2018,Celine Dion’s new ‘Ashes’ music video shocked everyone. Not only for the Canadian performance and her amazing voice, but for the dancer who join her in the theatre. Marvel’s superhero Deadpool might not be the first person you’d imagine appearing in a music video. And yet, there he is, in heels, while the Grammy-winner sings.
‘Ashes’ was released for the Deadpool 2 soundtrack, and many fans initially wondered if Canadian Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds was actually the one performing the contemporary routine onstage at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Reynolds quickly cleared that up on social media, giving a huge shoutout to Yanis Marshall, a French dancer and choreographer who was a finalist on Britain’s Got Talent in 2014. And the responsible for turn Deadpool into a great dancer.
“The whole Deadpool dancing in heels – that was actually not my idea. That was Ryan’s idea”, Marshall said in an interview. The French has appeared on some TV shows last years, and he is also the choreographer for Cirque du Soleil’s Las Vegas Zumanity show.
Deadpool costume: a nightmare suit
Marshall’s appearance in the video made a huge splash. His incredible talent makes you think that dancing on a Deadpool costume must be an easy mission. But in real life, my friend, everything turns tougher.
“It felt like a nightmare. Don’t get me wrong, the suit is beautifully made – it’s beautiful, it’s wow – but it’s definitely not meant to dance in”, revealed Marshall. “It’s about 100 degrees inside of that and it’s just really hard to move in. You can’t really breathe and you can’t really see anything”, he added. However, Yanis performance was just breathtaking.
